Rise Against Hunger Raleigh was founded in 2005 and serves the central North Carolina region. In 2017, nearly 26,000 local volunteers and partnering organizations, including faith groups, schools and corporations, have helped build the local movement to end global hunger. In this region alone, through 2017, more than 44.6 million meals have been packaged to benefit 35 countries.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Raleigh warehouse does accept volunteer help with various tasks and can verify community service hours.  Warehouse volunteers help support meal packaging operations by helping stage for events, restocking supplies, stacking aid pallets for shipment, sanitizing and organizing equipment, sorting merchandise and general cleaning. Labeling bags is a helpful task also, requiring limited physical exertion.

For information about community service hours in the warehouse, please visit our SignUp Genius Page or email

Elizabeth City Collaboration
Stemming from one annual 10,000 church meal packaging event, Christ Episcopal decided to spearhead a much larger collaborative event in Elizabeth City. The kick-off event in November of 2016 ended up with involvement from eight separate faith communities, both local Rotary groups and Elizabeth City State University, who hosted the event in their basketball gym. The event, which drew over 500 people and resulted in 90,000 meals, was an amazing display of diversity and a community coming together to help end world hunger! Engaging entire communities, as we have in Elizabeth City, is an ongoing initiative of the Rise Against Hunger Raleigh Team.

Act Locally, Impact Globally

Meal packaging events offer a powerful way to make a hands-on impact on world hunger. You raise the funds and rally your friends and family as volunteers, and we'll take care of the rest.
